SABIC's Engineering Thermoplastics Business Becomes NexPoint Materials: New Name, Proven Quality – Grässlin Kunststoffe Remains a Reliable Partner

A new, independent company has been formed from one of the world’s leading suppliers of engineering thermoplastics: As of August 4, 2026, SABIC’s former engineering thermoplastics business in Europe and the Americas has been operating under the name NexPoint Materials. The rebranding is the logical outcome of the successful completion of the transaction, under which SABIC’s business was spun off and acquired by the private equity firm Mutares.

For Grässlin Kunststoffe’s customers, this means above all that they can continue to rely on their contacts, familiar products, the highest quality, and the technical support and services they’ve come to expect. The acquisition by Mutares also lays the foundation for the new “Chemicals & Materials” business segment. The goal is to further expand the company’s long-standing expertise in the development, production, and application of engineering thermoplastics while simultaneously tapping into new growth potential, all while maintaining the proven elements of the business. In doing so, NexPoint Materials seamlessly continues the business’s decades-long success story.

Proven Materials for Demanding Applications

NexPoint Materials’ portfolio includes globally recognized material brands such as LEXAN™, CYCOLOY™, VALOX™, and CYCLOLAC™. These materials have been successfully used for many years in demanding applications across the automotive, electrical and electronics, medical technology, construction, and consumer goods industries.
With approximately 2,900 employees, eight production sites in Europe and the Americas, and annual revenue of approximately $2.5 billion, NexPoint Materials remains one of the leading suppliers of engineering thermoplastics.

Continuity for Grässlin Customers

For Grässlin Kunststoffe’s customers, the name change means, above all, planning certainty. The familiar materials will remain available, as will technical support and the high quality standards they’ve come to expect. As a long-standing distribution partner, Grässlin Kunststoffe is supporting the transition to NexPoint Materials and will continue to serve as a knowledgeable point of contact for customers regarding material selection, technical questions, and project development.
