VESTAMID® – Customized Properties
The name VESTAMID® stands for a whole range of polyamides with customized properties. EVONIK achieves the desired characteristics of these plastics through chemical modifications of the base polymer, through physical modifications—such as the addition of glass fibers, Teflon, or graphite—or through a combination of both. In this way, EVONIK can meet virtually all customer requirements with a wide variety of VESTAMID® grades.
TROGAMID® – transparent, versatile, strong
TROGAMID® is characterized above all by its lasting transparency and high chemical resistance, which is why it acts as a protective shield, so to speak, in many applications. Not only is it UV-resistant, highly durable under mechanical stress, and resistant to chemicals, lubricants, and cleaning agents, but it also remains permanently transparent. These properties make TROGAMID® molding compounds the ideal material for countless applications, ranging from flow meters and eyeglass lenses to stylish sunglasses.

Through its Care product lines , Evonik offers specialized polymers such as VESTAMID® Care and TROGAMID® Care, which have been specifically designed for demanding medical devices.
The materials in the Care Series cover a wide range—from flexible to rigid, and from transparent to translucent—and meet the high technical and regulatory requirements of modern medical technology. All products are biocompatible and comply with the strict requirements of USP Class VI and ISO 10993, the key standards for medical-grade plastics. They are designed and intended for applications involving contact with the body for up to 30 days, which is an important classification for safe use in temporary medical applications.
Typical applications include fluid delivery systems, catheters for vascular therapies, surgical instruments, and infusion components such as multi-port valves.
