Expanding the diverse product portfolio with innovative and sustainable polyolefin solutions

Grässlin Kunststoffe is now an official distributor for Borealis—with a new trade show slogan, “THE PLASTICS EXPERTS,” at the KPA in Ulm

Grässlin Kunststoffe and Elastron are joining forces to develop high-performance, future-oriented thermoplastic elastomers. A key focus of the strategic partnership is on the thermoplastic vulcanizates (TPV) from the internationally renowned manufacturer based in Turkey. With these and other innovative TPE solutions from Elastron, Grässlin is strengthening its diverse portfolio of high-performance, forward-looking materials for demanding applications.

“We are specifically expanding our product portfolio through this long-term partnership, particularly in the area of high-quality thermoplastic vulcanizates,” says Dr. Henrik Scholz, Technical Product Manager for TPE at Grässlin. “With Elastron’s expertise and experience, we can offer our customers scalable TPV solutions for innovative plastic applications that are characterized by significantly higher temperature resistance and improved recovery properties, such as lower compression set.” The properties of Elastron V TPEs range from high-temperature resistance and high flowability to a particularly low coefficient of friction and halogen-free flame retardancy.

“Conversely, Grässlin is a technically skilled partner for us who stays close to customers thanks to a deep understanding of the requirements of a wide variety of markets,” says Onur Acet, Export Distributor Manager at Elastron, describing his view of the partnership. With Elastron as a high-performing partner, Grässlin offers its customers clear advantages: High-quality TPE with great processing and design flexibility, comprehensive technical support, and sustainable materials containing recycled content for environmentally conscious projects. This is particularly evident in the sustainability-focused TPE series (“Circular”), which is based on post-industrial (PIR) and post-consumer (PCR) recycled materials.

Elastron has decades of experience in the development and manufacture of TPV and is internationally recognized as a technological pioneer in this segment. Drawing on its in-depth expertise, the company supplies plastics that are not only functional but also impressive in terms of aesthetics, tactile properties, and environmental sustainability. These thermoplastic vulcanizates offer design flexibility, easier processing, and recyclability, all while maintaining consistently high product quality. They are suitable for a wide range of industrial applications, including the automotive industry, the electrical and electronics sectors, the construction industry, and medical technology applications.

Borealis and Grässlin Kunststoffe have been working together successfully for just under two years. Now, one of the world’s leading polyolefin manufacturers and a European pioneer in polyolefin recycling, along with the reliable German distribution and logistics partner for plastic pellets and compounds, are expanding their partnership.

Effective immediately, Grässlin is the official distributor in Germany for Borealis’ innovative and sustainable polyolefin solutions. Just in time for the KPA in Ulm from February 25 to 26, 2026, the company is once again expanding its diverse product portfolio.

Most recently, the company announced strategic partnerships with Elastron for high-performance, future-oriented thermoplastic vulcanizates (TPV) and with Greco for thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU).

“The Borealis distribution agreementis a vote of confidence for us and another important building block in our comprehensive portfolio of high-performance, forward-looking materials that enable our customers to meet their demanding application requirements while simultaneously achieving their sustainability and performance goals,” said Holger Popp, authorized signatory at Grässlin. A key focus is on the materials Borcycle™, Fibremod™, BorPure™, Daplen™, and Recleo™.

These materials combine high chemical resistance with excellent mechanical performance and meet the requirements of a wide range of applications, particularly in the small appliances and household appliances sectors. In many cases, these polyolefin solutions can replace ABS or PA and, among other benefits, enable lighter component weight. Additional benefits include outstanding stiffness with a high gloss level, good scratch resistance, and ease of coloring for product designs with high market appeal. Materials containing recycled content from Borealis’ Borcycle™ and Bornewables™ portfolios actively support the implementation of sustainability strategies.

With TPE, Health-Care, and LFAM on February 25–26, 2026, at the KPA in Ulm

At the KPA in Ulm, Grässlin is showcasing more than just this new partnership. Under the motto “THE PLASTICS EXPERTS,” the company will be focusing, among other things, on thermoplastic elastomers and high-performance materials for demanding healthcare applications at Booth E6 in Hall 1. In addition, Grässlin is highlighting its engineering services—which are also still in their early stages—including its Large Format Additive Manufacturing (LFAM) offering. This 3D printing process enables the direct production of large-format plastic components, allowing for the flexible, on-demand manufacture of large parts in small batches. “This enables us to provide targeted support to customers in testing materials, component designs, and manufacturing strategies,” says Popp. “For the cost-effective implementation of innovations—from concept to series production.”
